00:34:29
Big is back to help me read some of your 'Most ADHD Thing' entries from socials of last month. The ultimate shame eradicator unites the ADHD Community with the knowledge that we are all in this together! Laughing at the things that cause us frustration and embarrassment to break the stigma and raise ADHD Awareness. Please note that ADHD presents differently in every individual and SELF DIAGNOSIS IS VALID. And in a system so broken you could be waiting the best part of a decade for life changing - and in many cases - life saving diagnosis and treatment, it bloody well has to be! Lean into the community, drop the shame and let's have a giggle...
TW: contains swearing, dodgy sound quality and editing (due to being hearing impaired) rustling sounds (due to hyperactive fidgeting) and mentions of toilet mishaps, orgasmic trousers, memory issues, self worth issues, harsh critiques, loud laughter and too-muchness.

I can't even guess the number of times I've told the story about the conversation with a newly diagnosed friend which led to my ADHD discovery. Well, THIS IS THAT FRIEND! I am so excited to share this VERY special in-person interview with the girl who kicked off this whole safari...
All aboard the late ADHD discovery roller coaster with the one and only Katy Smith. Katy is 'in fashion', and always fashionably late! :) Sydney's finest was misdiagnosed with BPD in childhood, but as is often the case, she wasn't told about it until adulthood and the diagnosis didn't fit at all.
Suffering a lifetime of masking her ADHD symptoms and battling commonly co-occurring anxiety, depression and disordered eating. Alongside bashing her self esteem to smithereens, the wrecking ball of ADHD destroyed her personal relationships. An ex made her realise she had ADHD, and once diagnosed in 2018 she 'subtly' mentioned her newly discovered condition to the most ADHD person she knew; a person she met and raised hell in Thailand with seven years prior...me! This legend plays an enormous role in ADHDAF Podcast history.THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING KATY!
And thank you to Sessionz Services for cleaning up this audio of two excitable fidgeting ADHDers in an echoey kitchen!
Trigger Warning: mentions of triggering topics including: depression, anxiety, ED, body dysmorphia, alcohol abuse, mental health struggles, burnout, misdiagnosis, alcoholism, escapism, Covid, health trauma, hairloss and skinpicking. Also contains a lot of swearing and cackling.

Episode 21: ADHD, Gender Transition & Power with Joe Charlan
20 Sep 2022
00:53:01
Joe Charlan is both a legend, and ADHDAF family! Freshly diagnosed Joe was born and educated as female in the 70s and 80s - which will likely play a large role in why he’s only just been diagnosed at the age of 46!
Mancunian Joe, a Commissioning Manager supporting people with disabilities, now identifies as a transgender man.
Right at the very start of this podcast, Joe reached out thanking us for our statement of inclusion re gender and sexuality and we hit it off. We’ve had a mutual appreciation society ever since!
Alongside sharing his experiences of undiagnosed ADHD, his recent diagnosis journey, and how the disorder and diagnosis effects his life; Joe shares a truly incredible insight…. What has undiagnosed ADHD cost Joe? POWER. We resonate so hard, and we are sure you will too!
Join us as Joe shares where he is up to on the late ADHD diagnosis rollercoaster, and the damage self deprecation can cause. This is a truly POWERFUL episode!
THANK YOU SO MUCH JOE for helping us further understand the impact of late diagnosed ADHD!
We loved this chat, and are sure you will too.
*Trigger Warning* Contains swearing, and subjects some might find disturbing such as bullying, negative self talk, low self worth/esteem, anger, being misunderstood/belittled, mental health struggles and self sabotage.
We can’t believe we’ve made twenty episodes… ironically, that’s probably due to imposter syndrome!
This is a really meaty episode(!) in which we share our insta story poll results, our personal reflections, and answer your ‘ask us anything’ questions.
Never has their been a week where we have achieved so much and felt like such total failures! Comparison is the thief of joy, and imposter syndrome and dopamine deficiency suck all of the glory out of the wins!
We’ve ended up letting the above upset ourselves and each other(!) and all on the week we are diving into the topic of imposter syndrome and identity crisis! You couldn’t write it, but we can discuss it… in our standard oversharey, brutally blurted out honest way that we hope listeners will find relatable and validating.
Merriam-Webster defines imposter syndrome, in part, as "persistent doubt concerning one's abilities or accomplishments accompanied by the fear of being exposed as a fraud despite evidence of one's ongoing success.‘’ ~ verywellmind.com
We’ve said in jest in the past ‘who T F are we? We thought we knew, but then we discovered at 38 that we’d been battling through life with undiagnosed brain disorders, and now we haven’t a clue’… in all seriousness, identity crisis is very common among late diagnosed ADHDers. ‘Being repeatedly misunderstood causes people with ADHD to deeply misunderstand themselves and their situations. Feeling deficient and mistrusting yourself from an early age makes it extraordinarily difficult to properly evaluate yourself as an adult. There is a continual internal vacillation.’ ~Additudemag.com
As ever, this podcast is us documenting our experiences on the late ADHD diagnosis rollercoaster in real time; hop aboard and hold on tight!
Trigger Warning: we use strong language, and mention topics that some might find disturbing; including imposter syndrome, self loathing, identity crisis, self sabotage, and excessive use of the word ‘journey’ - cringe!
Episode 19: ADHD, Nutrition & Excercise with Hanna Baxter
06 Sep 2022
00:58:33
Hanna, is so driven to achieve her healthy eating and fitness goals that she motivates others to do the same online: @hannabfitness
So it could be a surprise to hear that Hanna was diagnosed this year with ADHD at the age of 40! BUT, what we have learnt on our late diagnosed ADHD mission is that THERE IS NO ONE SIZE FITS ALL! Despite the similarities between ADHDers there are as many differences.
The areas in which some of us struggle to survive, some thrive and vice versa. Unlike us, and many other ADHDers, Hanna doesn’t struggle with self care, motivation or finances… One more time for the folk in the back - ADHD PRESENTS DIFFERENTLY IN EACH INDIVIDUAL!
Hanna helps people (now us included) overcome the ‘all or nothing’ mindset which holds so many of us back. This ‘black and white’ thinking is so common with ADHDers, but having fought hard to overcome her own struggles, Hanna uses what she has learnt in battling her undiagnosed neurodivergence to motivate others.
A genuine positive to ADHD that Hanna shares - EMPATHY.
This absolute powerhouse understands struggle and blocks only too well, and is therefore able to help people to overcome theirs: https://form.jotform.com/210422639917053
Alongside sharing how ADHD negatively impacts her life, and her diagnosis and treatment journey, Hanna gives us some fantastic advice about health and self care, which we are so grateful for!
Mainly: STOP BEING SO HARD ON YOURSELF AND SETTING UNREALISTIC GOALS!
Thank you Hanna, you ledge! There’s so much to take away from this interview,; relatable and inspirational, Enjoy!
TRIGGER WARNING: We cover some sensitive topics which some may find triggering. Including; mental health struggles, weight loss, medication, ADHD diagnosis
This episode comes with an ENORMOUS TRIGGER WARNING! Containing mentions of: ED, BN, AN, ABW, BDD, BI, BETRS, COE, EDNOS, MH, SH, CA, SUI
Please handle this episode with care, and don’t listen if any of the above or any mentions of disordered eating are triggering for you. If you are struggling with disordered eating in any form, please reach out for the help you need. One example of a fantastic charity: https://www.beateatingdisorders.org.uk/
We cover this topic extremely reluctantly! As we bumble our way through, you can literally hear at points this discussion has felt like pulling teeth. Despite continuous requests from listeners to cover this, we’ve put it off for three months, but having discovered stats proving the strong correlation between ADHD and BEO / BN, we’ve put our shame and fear of upsetting people aside in the hope that our honesty can help others.
We apologise if any of the language we use in an attempt to convey our experiences is inappropriate or upsetting. Our aim is to be part of the solution rather than the problem, but we accept the likely possibility of getting things wrong. As ever, please note that we are not Drs, therapists, experts… we are just two late diagnosed ADHD women, reflecting on our own disordered eating and body issues of the past, with the new knowledge of our neurodivergence, and how the two relate in an attempt to validate the experiences of others like us; to eradicate the shame of potential comorbidities of a brain disorder, and to pull the community together.
Though potentially as an instinctive defence mechanism, we move onto our usually silly blethering about nonsense, meaning this episode ends on a high after such dark subject matter.
Episode 17: ADHD NHS Shared Care DENIED: Nicole Nadler
23 Aug 2022
01:02:17
Imagine getting a private diagnosis after hearing the lengthy wait for an NHS ADHD assessment, only to then have said diagnosis denied by the NHS!
That’s exactly what happened to our next guest earlier this year… New Yorker, Nicole followed her heart to Edinburgh, Scotland, where she lives with her Scottish husband and works as a writer. She’s currently reviewing acts performing in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
ADHD Shared Care, in a nutshell: is where a specialist (ie a private Psychiatrist) shares responsibilities with a General Practitioner (GP) in the treatment of the patient. Including: management of prescription, monitoring progress, tests - such as ECG, communication of dose changes during titration, etc.
Despite many ADHDers in desperate need of treatment being advised by the NHS to go private if they can afford to due to the wait; Nicole was told that her shared care was rejected BECAUSE she wasn’t diagnosed by the NHS! Nicole is a UK resident who has a brain disorder that is considered a disability in the UK. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!
Despite sharing her story with BBC Scotland, Nicole’s case has not been reviewed.
Like many, Nicole has to pay for her medication, and feels so dismissed by the NHS, that she doesn’t have the energy to keep fighting to be heard to access the treatment she needs and is entitled to. Fortunately, Nicole is privileged enough to be able to pay for her medication, unlike many already struggling to survive the cost of living crisis(!) forced to choose between medication that enables them to function and basic living costs.
Despite her diagnosis ordeal, Nicole’s tale is a positive one… ‘Having ADHD is the worst thing that ever happened to me. Getting an ADHD diagnosis is the best thing that ever happened to me!’ - Nicole Nadler
After a lifetime of self loathing, battling depression, feelings of ineptitude and despair, Nicole has found acceptance, is thriving and making up for lost time! GO ON NICOLE!
We LOVE this proper blether of an episode! There’s so much to take away from it, from validation to inspiration… ENJOY!
*Trigger Warning* This episode contains strong language, and sensitive topics which some may find distressing. Including; grief, severe mental health struggles and suicide
Undiagnosed ADHDers can’t cope. The NHS can’t cope. And we can’t cope with constantly hearing from listeners just how broken the ADHD (in particular the adult ADHD) diagnostic system is!
We haven’t started this podcast to get internet points, we’ve done it to help others like us. We get multiple messages daily telling us our ramblings are helping people feel validated and less alone in their suffering, which is incredible! BUT, what we really want is to help (even in a tiny way) to influence systemic change, so that ADHDers that need/want to access medical diagnosis/treatment don’t have to suffer like they are!
This very emotional episode, in which we share just a handful of the countless experiences we get sent, our @adhdasfemales Instagram story poll results, followers suggestions for how to change the broken system, and our own, is fuelled by rage at the injustice of how many undiagnosed adult ADHDers are being treated by medical professionals.
It’s not all ranting and feet stomping though, we promise! This isn’t about pointing the finger, it’s about potential problem solving.. and there is some joy in it too.
ADHDers need help, the NHS needs help, CHANGE IS URGENTLY NEEDED. We need to come together and understand this crisis from both sides and start a new system to save lives!
*Trigger Warning* Alongside swearing, this episode contains topics such as medical negligence, false accusations of abuse, body shaming, ADHD denying, severe mental health struggle and suicide.
We are so grateful to Helen Anderson for joining us on the late ADHD diagnosis rollercoaster, and so excited to share this insightful and hilarious interview with an absolute powerhouse!
Helen humbly introduces herself as an ‘Internet Person’ (ADHDers tend to self deprecate) Helen is in fact an internet sensation!
She has an ENORMOUS online following of her YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/helenmelonlady which she began vlogging on a decade ago. Her straight- talking, no BS attitude, body positivity, hilarious reels and rock n roll style have gained her an equally gargantuan following on Instagram: @helenanderz Helen has also created an online shop: @sweetsweethoneydew for ‘Rock n Rollin’ self lovers and loathers’. To top it all off, she is the lead singer of the band: @sunny.bones - their new EP, ‘This Hell Called Home’ is out now!
It’s hard to imagine that a woman this driven could suffer with RSD, task paralysis, low self esteem and the other struggles that hold so many ADHDers back… but don’t believe everything you see, or rather perceive on social media… Helen Anderson is ADHD AF!
Very recently diagnosed at the age of 31. Massive thank you to the absolute legend that is Helen for sharing her struggles and experiences, that so many will relate to (us included!) and for the pearls which we will treasure. Enjoy!
*Trigger warning* as ever this episode contains strong language. We discuss some sensitive topics such as depression, anxiety, unsympathetic strangers (ie internet trolls) family and romantic relationship struggles, and low self esteem. We also voice some potentially controversial opinions. Please note, that we are not experts or medical professionals, just three women who battled through life with undiagnosed brain disorders, desperately hoping to influence change to save others from suffering for as long as we have.
Episode 14: The ADHD Creative Entrepreneur Stereotype
02 Aug 2022
01:01:24
We are reunited in Aberdeen, after Laura's couple of weeks on the road selling her handmade wears at The Secret Garden Party. Not only does that explain the length of this episode (us neurodivergent neighbours had a lot of catching up to do!) but it also led us to the topic of this Episode.
With Dawn studying 3D Design at University and Laura into her 12th year as a creative entrepreneur with @hathor.hedonism, evidently we are both very much creatives. However, as we always say - ADHD is not a one size fits all disorder! Though ADHDers share similar struggles and traits; the disability effects us all in different ways.
We decided to challenge this ADHD creative entrepreneur stereotype with a poll for our instagram followers: @adhdasfemales, and it's fair to say we were very surprised by the results. Thanks to all who participated.
We begin this Episode by answering the 'ask us anything' questions from our followers, before diving into the poll and giving our own personal reflections on a topic that definitely holds some weight; but we argue, this could potentially be due in part to RSD as much as anything else.
We share some 'information' from online articles on the topic, one of which makes a claim so untrue, irresponsible and insulting that Laura has a meltdown and shares some choice words for the 'journalist' at multiple points. sorry, not sorry! We also debunk the myth that ADHD meds destroy creativity.
We conclude with our 'differences', 'the most ADHD thing we have done this week' and some VERY EXCITING news from Dawn!!!!!!!
TRIGGER WARNING: The rage evoked by said article makes this episode even more sweary than usual, so be warned. We cover some sensitive topics including: Severe mental health issues, depression, anxiety, self loathing, relationship struggles, and people disbelieving and diminishing our invisible disability
We are so excited about this Episode. It’s a bit longer than usual; as Louise shared so many pearls, we didn’t want to cut any out! (Hence why there’s minimal into/outro from us)
As many of you will be aware, Louise Williams is an absolute LEGEND! She has an incredible blog - Pink Pear Bear - and ADHD support groups of the same name. Louise has been making much needed noise about mental health for seven years online. She has helped so many ADHDers and continues to do so with her ENORMOUS online community, and now she has started a gym with a difference - Solace, providing solace for the soul. Unlike standard gyms that many find intimidating; the ethos is that all are welcome of all abilities, to join a safe community that they can feel comfortable in.
Louise shares her journey battling depression and anxiety, with medication for what turned out to be comorbidities (sounds familiar!) Her mental health deteriorated further after having her children until eventually getting diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 37.
We are sure you will love this inspirational interview with a truly lovely lady!
Trigger warning: sensitive topics covered such as; mental health struggles, alcoholism, medication problems, imposter syndrome, potentially controversial opinions, and some swearing
Episode 12: Struggling to Keep the Plates Spinning
19 Jul 2022
00:52:02
Apologies in advance that the sound isn’t the usual standard. We had to record this on the road - literally!
In every Episode of ADHDAF we invite you to join us on our late ADHD diagnosis journey, but in this particular instalment you are joining us on an actual journey too(!) from north east Scotland down to Blackpool in a car full to the rafters of festival accessories, with a surprise guest appearance from Laura’s Husband Big.
Reason being, we have to hold our hands up at this point and admit we’ve taken on WAY too much, meaning it has become a struggle for us both to keep all of the plates spinning!
ADHDers are prone to overcommitting. A lifetime of not meeting expectations, and ‘just try harders’ can lead us to become hardcore people pleasers! Overcompensation and executive dysfunction can cause us to take on too many tasks. Time blindness, a lack of boundaries/self- worth/care and rejection sensitive dysphoria can all bring an inability to perceive our own limits. Not to mention that the lazy’, ‘useless’ etc labels many of us have picked up along the way can make us feel like we have a hell of a lot to prove!
We hope you enjoy this very random check-in, in which we reflect on everything from our incredible interview with Clementine Ford, storming the UK & Australian podcast charts, the seriousness of the worldwide health crisis of ADHD, wearing cycling shorts to work, forgetting to sleep, wash and get any fresh air for over a week… and loads more. That’s not even half of it…as ever, we have a LOT to say!
TRIGGER WARNING: Contains strong language and mentions of severe mental health crisis, suicide, death, family bereavement, work and financial struggles, trauma and relationship struggles
Wureeay LADS LADS LADS! ;) Mr LADBible himself; The wonderful Alex Partridge of ADHD Chatter shares his ADHD ‘safari’ in this very special episode.
Alex began his podcast to help others not feel as broken as he did prior to ADHD Diagnosis just 1.5 years ago. I loved being a guest on ADHD Chatter as much as I loved this podswap! Alex has been sober 2 years after battling alcoholism. A commonly co-occurring condition of ADHD; a compulsion he suffered in a bid to help him cope with the severe anxiety he developed from masking his physical hyperactivity. ‘Spike’ is an inspiration and an absolute LEGEND! THANK YOU SO MUCH ALEX!
I‘m so grateful and excited to have Alex and a whole host of other legends join me for the LAST Alien Nation Show in Brighton Sat 20th July! We still can’t believe this happened! Award winning Australian Author, feminist icon and absolute legend Clementine Ford shares her ADHD story with us in this very special episode.
Clementine’s bestselling book ‘Fight Like a Girl’ is the essential feminists manifesto. Her other incredible writing work includes: ‘Boys Will Be Boys’ and her latest book: ‘How We Love.’ Previously a columnist for Fairfax’s Daily Life; Clementine is also a regular contributor to The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald.
Her own Podcast ‘Dear Clementine’ is packed with advice that you may not want, but you definitely need…so give that a listen too!
Clementine was diagnosed with ADHD this year at the age of 40; and she very kindly hopped aboard the late ADHD diagnosis rollercoaster with us. In this episode she shares reflections of her childhood, relationships, work, motherhood and the future, through a new ADHD lens.
There is so much to take away from this insightful ‘blether’, the magic eye analogy in particular is life changing! Thank you thank you thank you Clementine!
*Trigger warning, as ever we are a tad sweary, we discuss mental health crisis, family bereavement, maternal struggles, relationship problems, alcohol, substance use and addiction.
Following on from our slightly controversial opinions voiced in our interview with Dr Alex Conner of The ADHD adults Podcast; this week we are deep diving into booze. NOT LITERALLY!
We reveal our story poll results, which we were pretty surprised by, whilst giving our personal answers and reflections.
After divulging our own experiences as undiagnosed ADHDers and alchohol we share some information from experts.
We conclude with our weekly segment ‘the most ADHD thing we’ve done this week.
We hope you enjoy this episode, if so we would love you to make a donation at buymeacoffee.com/adhdasfemales
TRIGGER WARNING - this episode is particularly sweary, sorry! We discuss some very sensitive topics including: underage drinking, alcohol abuse, alcoholism. alcoholic family member. *If you our struggling with alcohol, or are suffering as a result of someone in your life’s alcohol issues, please do reach out for the support you need either via your GP and/or the likes of @drinkaware_trust or @nacoauk
This is a really special one! In this episode, we interview the other half of the duo who inspired us to start this podcast with theirs - The ADHD Adults Podcast.
Dr Alex Conner: - Reader in Biomedical Science Communication at the University of Birmingham Medical School - Co-founder of the charity ADHD Adult UK - Co-founder of Focus, a free online magazine about Adult ADHD - Co-host of the aforementioned podcast with Dr James Brown (ADHDAF Episode 5), which continues to be an enormous help to us both on our late ADHD diagnosis journeys - executive ADHD coach. - Such a lovely man we forgot we were interviewing and launched into a ranty and potentially controversial ‘chat’
Alex assured us that it’s ok to share an opinion, especially with the disclaimer that we are NOT IN ANY WAY EXPERTS! As ever, we are new to all of this and trying to find the answers to all of the questions that pop up whilst we ride the late ADHD diagnosis rollercoaster.
We are SO GRATEFUL to Alex for this emotional ‘interview’ / chat! THANK YOU!
We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we do.
*TRIGGER WARNING* This is very sweary, and we mention mental health crisis, drug and alcohol abuse, controversial opinions about diagnosis and medication issues.
This Episode comes with multiple trigger warnings, and it was incredibly triggering for us to record.
We explore the many ways in which undiagnosed ADHD has cost us in ‘romantic’ relationships throughout our lives. We distinguish this type of relationship, as we will cover other types of personal relationships ADHD Tax has cost us in a future episode. The quotation marks are also there for irony! LOLS!
We deep dive into how undiagnosed ADHD can destroy romantic relationships, backed up with some heavy stats.
We reflect upon how unknowingly our ADHD has caused others distress, rather than victimising ourselves as we would’ve done prior to the awareness our ‘diagnosis’ brought. We acknowledge how vulnerable a place we were in unknowingly due to our symptoms. HOWEVER, that does NOT excuse the bad behaviour of other parties.
Finally we credit Florence Given for her words of wisdom! If somebody treats you badly, DUMP HIM! Much like Florence’s book, ‘Women Don’t Owe You Pretty’, this is the podcast episode we wish we’d heard a couple of decades ago.
We hope you ‘enjoy’ or at least take something away from this excruciating episode, and that we don’t sound too preachy! We are by no means experts(!!!) and on reflection, we are basically telling our younger selves a thing or two!
*TRIGGER WARNING* We discuss some VERY distressing topics, including divorce, domestic abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, gaslighting, breakups, severe mental health distress
We still can't believe that our second ADHDAF guest is the one and only Sophia Hilton!
The owner of the Not Another Brand has completely disrupted the industry in the last 6 years. Starting with the most talked about salon, Not Another Salon. She then went on to open 3 more companies, including an the biggest selling in-person academy in the UK, a social media consultancy company and retail. Recently, her Not Another Online learning Platform has over 4000 students across 52 countries worldwide and is now being translated into 5 languages.
Sophia has a whopping 13 business awards putting her in the hall of fame at the Creative Head awards meaning she can no longer enter! That goes alongside a futher 4 awards in hairdressing and colour and at the British Hairdressing awards and Creative Head.
Sophia was diagnosed this year, aged 34. Like us, Sophia is just a few months in to discovering her Neurodivergence.
We begin this Episode backwards with 'the most ADHD thing we've done this week', as a disclaimer for the sound quality. WE ACCIDENTALLY DIDN'T RECORD THE EPISODE! (MORTIFYING!!!)
Thankfully @theshibuiproject was recording, or else we would have lost this incredible interview all together!
We are so grateful to Sophia for giving us her time (particularly so early on in our Podcasting journey) and for using her very influential voice for the cause. THANK YOU SOPHIA! Sophia's words are insightful, emotional and inspiring, thank God the other team pressed record! :)
This 'blether' is three ladies in their thirties riding the ADHD late diagnosis rollercoaster together, come and join the ride!
*TRIGGER WARNING* We explore some sensitive topics which some listeners may find distressing including: Anxiety, Depression, Financial Struggles, Lockdown, ADHD Medication, Relationship and Motherhood Struggles
In this Episode we discover the meaning and horrifying statistics of ADHD Tax. We share our story poll answers before exploring our own experiences in answering those questions.
ADHD Tax is an enormous topic! Deep diving into it, we realised that we’ve already explored the health aspect in our Self-Care Episode. For this one, we focus more on money, employment and financial struggles, before divulging how we personally rebel against ADHD Tax. In a future Episode we will explore the relationships side of ADHD Tax.
Alongside sharing ‘the most ADHD thing we’ve each done this week’, we go on to a very special ‘Differences’ segment. We explore the enormous impact music has had on both of our life journeys, in very different ways. As an added Brucey bonus, we have created our own playlists available on Spotify, via our link in bio on Instagram . We hope you enjoy!

This one's totes emosh! In this episode, we interview one half of the duo who inspired us to start this podcast with theirs - The ADHD Adults Podcast.
Dr James Brown: - Associate Professor, School of Biosciences Aston University - Co-founder of the charity ADHD Adult UK - Co-founder of Focus, a free online magazine about Adult ADHD - Co-host of the aforementioned podcast with Dr Alex Conner, which continues to be an enormous help to us both on our late ADHD diagnosis journeys
Despite causing James great distress with our Dr Alex Conner style greeting; he answered questions about his ADHD journey, and finding his purpose in helping folks like us, before making us cry for his own amusement. Well played after that greeting! :)
We are SO GRATEFUL to James for being our first ADHDAF guest! THANK YOU!

Trying to unlearn the learnt behaviour of hiding our neurodivergence to ‘fit in’.
In this episode we divulge the stats from our Masking insta Poll {@adhdasfemales} before answering the questions ourselves.
We share the ways in which we have historically masked ADHD, and explore how to take off the mask.
We conclude with our weekly segments; ‘Differences’ to display how differently ADHD can present from person to person and ‘The most ADHD thing we have each done this week’We are so excited to announce our first guest! Dr James Brown from The ADHD Adults Podcast, Focus Mag (a free online magazine about Adult ADHD) and cofounder of the charity: ADHD Adult UK. We will be interviewing him for Episode 5.

Following on from the poll we posted on our @adhdasfemales insta story, we discuss the very questions those that participated so kindly answered. We expose how ADHD has caused us both to struggle with consistent self-care routines. We felt very vulnerable discussing some of these topics, due to shame. The honesty of the poll entrants showed us that we are not alone; which gave us the courage to talk about these common issues that many people with ADHD have.
After exploring topics such as hygiene. dental appointments, and financial struggles, we revisit the weekly segment of ‘differences’. This time with the theme of self-care, before concluding with ‘the most ADHD thing we have done this week.’
We tried and failed to shorten the episode length, but we've decided to practice what we preach: self-compassion. This is how it's working for us right now, and bizarrely, each episode is almost exactly the same length! We hope you enjoy it. Feel free to share any feedback... and hit those stars! :)

Following on from our ridiculous 'reel'... in this second episode, we explore the social media trend labelling ADHD a superpower. We discuss both for and against; what our ADHD Superpower would be, and the cost it comes with.
We further explore the idea of trends by addressing the skin-crawling notion that ADHD is a 'cool trend', whilst also celebrating the fact that the disorder, and in particular how it can present in women is getting much-needed exposure.
We conclude with our regular segments: The most ADHD thing we've done this week, and 'Differences' - to highlight how this complex condition is not a one size fits all model. This week we talk about how mobile phones and communication trigger our ADHD in totally different ways, a subject we will deep dive into in a later episode.

Neurodivergent neighbours, Dawn and I (Laura), were both diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 38. In this first episode, we explore what Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is before diving into our experiences pre, during and post diagnosis. With the average age for women to be diagnosed when missed in childhood being between 36-38, and the huge number of women left mis/undiagnosed altogether, we realise that our experience is an all too common occurrence. We explore what it means to get such a late diagnosis, and the impact the disability has had and continues to have on all aspects of our lives.
Things could definitely have been different with the knowledge and diagnosis earlier. Both at different stages in our diagnosis journey, with similarities and differences in the way ADHD presents itself and the challenges we each face as a result. We touch on comorbidities, career struggles, and symptoms such as time blindness, (as a result of which this episode is double the length we planned and even though it was! LOL)
This is an introduction chat, or rather a 'get to know us blether' where we touch on our experiences in general before deep diving into specific topics in upcoming episodes.

TITBIT: People Pleasing Hack - Meghann Birks Coaching
05 Jun 2024

Are you a recovering People Pleaser? I'm trying! ...Thankfully help is at hand. I'm joined once again by the wonderful ADHD Coach: Meghann Birks! In this 10 minute micro-chinwag, Meghann reframes the common ADHD trait of People Pleasing into 'Peace Keeping' - eradicating the shame many of us feel around it, to disempower it and help to empower sufferers.
I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Meghann on her amazing Podcast: Sisters in Stoke. This Canadian LEGEND lives in Melbourne and has a unique skill of delivering a pearl of wisdom in precisely 10 minutes without a timer! :) I found this conversation SO SO helpful, I hope you do too.

I’m so excited to have the LEGENDARY Comedian & Author Suzi Ruffell hop aboard the late ADHD discovery rollercoaster this week! Despite being diagnosed with Dyslexia as a child, Suzi’s ADHD went undiscovered until very recently. Labelled ‘hyper’ as a child, Suzi found school really difficult, which inevitably led to truancy, which is common for many of us unidentified ADHDers. Suzi has noticed many female Comedians also just discovering their Neurodivergence… could it be the traits of the condition itself, or the result of a lifetime of ADHD going undetected and unsupported that has led so many like her to the profession? Whatever the case I am so grateful to Suzi for giving her time and voice to this platform to help raise crucial ADHD Awareness amidst a global crisis!

Having been interviewed by the LEGENDARY Katy Weber on her INCREDIBLE Podcast: Women & ADHD I am honoured to swap roles and have her hop onboard the late ADHD discovery roller coaster with me!
In this interview/chinwag Katy shares her experiences with school struggles and truency, which left her feeling like a failure. Like many, she discovered her neurodivergence during lockdown. She impulsively launched her podcast pre diagnosis(!) and credits its many conversations as her own form of therapy; which have led to her becoming an ADHD expert.
I am so grateful to get to collaborate with Katy once again, and was particularly moved by her all too familiar experience of imposter syndrome post ADHD diagnosis and her relentless drive to strive for 'what's next'.

Many ADHDers experience Self Sabotage; the most frustrating part is that it can be so hard to spot! So where is the long awaited Season 3?! Well... there isn't gonna be one! :) I've realised that the fear of 'the Season that shall not be named' failing has led me down a path of Self Sabotage so severe I've been stuck for months so instead I'm just ploughing on!Helping me do so is the INCREDIBLE Kim Pierpoint.

Many late discovered ADHD adults find it hard to know where to begin when it comes to ADHD Unmasking. In this micro-episode ADHD Coach Meghann Birks gives us her top tip to help unpick those negative beliefs we've accumulated to help us find our authentic selves.
I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Meghann on her amazing Podcast: Sisters in Stoke and we've been in semi constant contact ever since. This Canadian LEGEND lives in Melbourne and she's all heart, humour and wisdom. Meghann invites us all to ''f**k around and find out!" We go on a little side-quest about internalised mysogyny, beauty standards and body image issues, but somehow Meghann uses her time wizardry to cram her Unmasking knowledge into a short TITBIT episode. I look forward to sharing more from Meghann soon!

HAPPY EASTER BUNNIES! We certainly are ahead of finally revealing the BIG news in the next episode: on TUESDAY! As explained on socials, ADHDAF Alien Nation is the LAST EVER Tour! I'll be explaining why, and making ENOROMOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS about what myself and a team of LEGENDS have been working hard on behind the scenes... a brand new chapter for ADHDAF! Exciting/emotional times!
Thank you to everyone who shared their Most ADHD Things this month to make this episode and thanks to my husband Big for co-hosting these monthly specials. Apologies for glitchy sound, aim to have this fixed for next time!
I created the infamous last question from every ADHD AF Interview, 'What is the most ADHD thing you've done this week?' to unite the ADHD Community with shame eradication, camaraderie and lols! These personal stories are commented on the weekly socials posts to get ADHDers connected, because Peer Support is invaluable in when dealing with a diagnosis later in life. Raising ADHD Awareness, and breaking the stigma by poking fun at the calamities and chaos the condition can cause. Turning tragedy into comedy, laughing at the things that would usually make us cry. My quality of life and self worth greatly improved with the knowledge that these mishaps are not personal failings, and that I'm not alone in them...my hope is that in sharing these silly episodes, yours will too. We're all in this together!
If you are struggling YOU ARE NOT ALONE and there is free and immediate support out there so please do REACH OUT!

ADHD AF TITBIT: Neurodiversity & Language with Dr James Brown
19 Mar 2024
00:13:55
It's Neurodiversity Celebration Week so to celebrate, us Neurodivergents have got our Neurodiverse heads together to discuss the language used to describe our Neurodivergence! Get it? Basically, what do all of these words mean?! Is there right and wrong when sharing our own lived experiences and explaining our ADHD? If you prefer 'Neurospicy' or refer to yourself 'as ADHD' rather than having or experiencing the 'disorder'/ 'disability' / 'condition'... Dr James Brown and I celebrate you! The language police can do one! Say what you like, just try not to be a joy thief and show respect to the differences within our diverse community! You say Saltburn, I say Saltbae! Yep, that happened! :)

The topic of this micro-Interview with @adultingadhd is RSD: Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria, commonly experienced by many ADHDers. There are some in the ADHD community that dispute if RSD is real, but Rach and I strongly disagree! We are RSD Warriors not 'just worriers', as we were both dismissed as in childhood!
In just ten(sih) minutes the LEGENDARY Rach shares experiences of and top tips to combat the dysphoric perception of rejection that so many of us battle daily. I'm the queen of RSD so really appreciate Rach's advice. This is a fantastic bitesized episode to help arm yourself with when those 'Really Shit Daydreams' are haunting you and to share with other sufferers. We are all in this together!

Trigger Warning: There are some very triggering topics mentioned from the very start of this episode, including: depression, anxiety, ED, alcoholism, addiction, chronic pain, BPD, mental health struggles, suicide, suicidal ideation, misdiagnosis and bullying. Also contains swearing.
That said, this interview with the LEGENDARY Adelaide Saywell, much like the Content Creator themself,is an absolute joy! I am incredibly grateful to Adelaide for giving me their time, sharing their lived experiences & enlightening me on Autism and AuDHD; neither of which I have any lived experience nor much knowledge about. Adelaide uses their enormous platforms on Instagram, YouTube and Tik Tok to support others with similar struggles. Their vulnerability, positivity, tips and reminders are invaluable and inspirational.
Adlelaide severely struggled with their mental health from the age of 14, which led to them being sectioned under the mental health act at 21. Having received a Misdiagnoses of EUPD Previously known as BPD; through their own research she identified ADHD and Autism and was finally diagnosed with ADHD at 28... and after some serious self advocacy for Right To Choose(!) they received their Autism diagnosis. Adelaide is currently training to become an ADHD Coach. WHAT A LEGEND!
THANK YOU SO MUCH ADELAIDE!

Masking is something so many of us experience. CJ lived a lot of their life behind three different masks until coming out as Queer and Non Binary, and really exploring their Neurodivergence in their 30s. Growing up in West Cork, Ireland, CJ knew they were ADHD, but its implications remained mysterious. In their book CJ fearlessly explores the raw realities of heartbreak, love, and sexuality, and the complexities of desire, the impact of distractions during intimacy, the role of dopamine, and the allure of unconventional sexual experiences. CJ sheds light on alarmingly low diagnosis rates for women, transgender individuals, and non-binary individuals, urging readers to advocate for improved healthcare. THAT'S A LOT TO CRAM INTO TEN MINUTES HEY! Which is why in this TITBIT we focus on Neuro-Queer Allyship and Neurodivergent Dating; in particular dating safety for ADHDers. Particularly those of us that either don't see those warning flags, or mistrust our judgement, so wait for them to turn a particular shade of red! It was an absolute joy to speak to this Leopard Print LEGEND! MASSIVE THANKS to CJ for sharing so many pearls of wisdom and for all of their amazing work!

ADHD AF TITBIT:Dr James Brown,WHY have I Got ADHD?!
13 Feb 2024
00:12:15
For the first of this miniseries of micro-Interviews it's only right I be joined by the first ever guest of ADHD AF, The one and only: Dr James Brown of The ADHD Adults Podcast and ADHDadultUK Charity. In just ten minutes the LEGENDARY James takes us back to basics (bitches) serving INDISPUTABLE ADHD FACTS to fill in the gaps in our own knowledge, to share with any family, friends, partners, employers, coworkers, etc who need educating about ADHD, and/or - to quote James, 'shove up the a$$ of Dominic Lawson!' In all seriousness, this micro-episode is a fantastic bitesized morsel to arm yourself with if faced with any ignorant remarks to stop ADHD Ableists (well meaning or otherwise) in their tracks! ADHD IS NOT A TREND. ADHD IS REAL. THE END.
