Last year our own Alon Ben Joseph became friends with Sherpa Watches’ owner Martin Klocke after he was interviewed for the podcast series The Real Time Show. Out of that friendship a collaborative watch project was born: the TRTS x Sherpa OPS. Obviously Ace Jewelers because of that also became the exclusive retailers of the Sherpa watch brand in the Netherlands.

Sherpa Watches is dedicated to bringing back the most legendary watch models. They relaunched designs that have become true treasures among vintage watch collectors and offer something remarkable for anyone who has yet to discover the Sherpa heritage. Sherpa Watches pays tribute to the achievements of the original Enicar S.A. brand that conquered the watch world during the golden age of tool watches.
And at the same time, they honour the humble Sherpa people that inspired the Swiss pioneers in naming their most ambitious model line from 1956 on.

After the seven The Ace List questions, the gentlemen discussed what makes Sherpa so special. And, the viewers got a master class why Sherpa watches are real compressor dive watches! As usual the last part was reserved for the live viewers to ask questions.

Earlier this year Mr. Benoit De Clerck was appointed CEO of ZENITH Watches. We are honored to have sat down with him and discuss his long journey of over 25 years all over the world in the luxury watch industry, starting at TAG Heuer to making it as COO of Panerai and now the taking the helm at the manufacture in Le Locle, Switzerland.
During this episode we didi not only discuss his personal journey, but also discussed the 2024 ZENITH novelties launched during Watches & Wonders earlier this year. And, where he wants to take the 159 year old beauty. Obviously we will try to find out what special watches they are going to create to celebrate the brand’s 160th anniversary next year.

The Ace List - Live with Itay Noy of Itay Noy Watches - S03E08

The only independent high-end watchmaker in Israel is a true artist. Itay Noy is an Israeli watchmaker, designer and artist who creates limited-edition timepieces in his independent studio in the Old Jaffa.

Since the year 2000 Itay Noy’s timepieces combine true craftsmanship with out-of-the-box designs, meant to induce philosophical perspectives on the concept of time.

Itay make about 120 pieces a year, all his own original designs, using components & movements of the highest quality integrated with in-house dynamic dials, modules and complications.

Ace Jewelers’ CEO Alon Ben Joseph and mastermind Itay Noy are long-time personal friends. They have many mutual interests, besides watchmaking. There are also many ties running back-and-forth between their home countries.

Mr. Noy graduated with a BFA from the Jewelry department in the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem, followed by a M.Des. from the Design Academy in Eindhoven. His work has been exhibited in museums around the world and acquired by important collections such as those of the Israel Museum, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the Charles Bronfman Collection in New York and the Droog Collection in Amsterdam. He is the recipient of nine prizes, including the Andy Prize for the Arts, the Israeli Ministry of Culture Prize and the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Prize. Since 2005 he lectures on timepiece making and design at the Bezalel Academy Of Art and Design in Jerusalem.

Ace Jewelers has been a proud authorized dealer of Itay Noy watches. Since the demand for Noy’s watches are so high and his production capacity so limited, he reverted back to a model of Direct-To-Consumer. But, we at Ace Jewelers are very much ambassadors of Mr. Itay Noy and his artisan timepieces of art. For the first episode of the third season of The Ace List Live we are very honoured that watch industry veteran and web3 innovator Mr. Vincent Perriard, co-founder of Swiss ORIGYN Foundation, sits down with Ace Jewelers’ own Alon Ben Joseph.

Vincent Perriard earned his stripes in the watch industry at TechnoMarine, Concord and HYT Watches. A few years ago he had the vision to co-found a DAO that developed a technology that can authenticate luxury objects by using the ‘micro structure traceability’ of the actual object. The certificate is then minted as a NFT and stored on the blockchain.

Bernard Werk is an icon in the Dutch watch scene. He is the publisher of one of the oldest watch magazines in the Netherlands: Watching. Two decades ago Bernard interviewed the Ben Josephs for the first time and a friendship was forged afterwards.

Recently Bernard co-founded a new Dutch brand: Gyre Watch. Wristwatches made of recycled fish nets! Obviously we had to support this project immediately and we became authorized dealers of these sustainable watches.

During this episode of The Ace List Live our own Alon Ben Joseph will discuss the evolution of the watch industry the last few decades with Bernard. Not only from a media perspective, but obviously from a product point of view as well. And, why a journalist felt compelled to become a sustainable watch producer.

After a long & distinguished career designing watches for leading Swiss watch brands, Hakim El Kadiri decided to pursue his long-time dream of creating his own brand. Nicknamed ElKa (short for El Kadiri, of course) since his early childhood, a name was quickly found. As a child of the 1960’s, the products and aesthetics of that era serve as the main source of inspiration for his newly formed brand – the Elka Watch Company.
Whilst researching the name, Hakim discovered that a watch brand named Elka had previously existed. The historical brand of Elka watches was created by Dutchman Louis Eduard Kiek in 1913, ELKA being an abbreviation for Edouard Louis Kiek Amsterdam. The family-owned company operated several Kiek boutiques in Amsterdam where prestigious brands such as Rolex, Ulysse Nardin, Vulcain, Breitling, Universal, Jaeger-LeCoultre and Blancpain watches were sold -often proudly co-branded with the ELKA signature, as well as wrist and pocket watches of their own ELKA brand. They were also particularly famous for their stopwatches, timers, and chess clocks. Somewhere in the 1970s, the ELKA brand quietly disappeared. The Kiek boutiques would continue to operate until the year 2000, after which the company was dissolved.
During this session Ace Jewelers’ Alon Ben Joseph sat down with his long-time friend Hakim and did a deep dove into how he designed the watches for his Elka Watch Company, one of the collections – the X-Series- and how he got inspired by an aviation instrument created by Heuer for ELKA, which featured oversized Arabic numerals from 00 to 55.

It’s a great honor to welcome Edward Asscher on the show. During the first season both of Edward’s children Lita Asscher (S01E09) and Mike Asscher (S01E03) appeared on The Ace List Live. Although Edward Asscher, the fifth generation of this diamond dynasty officially retired as the President of Royal Asscher Diamond Company last year, he is definitely not taking it easy. He become the President of the World Diamond Council, for the second time!

Edward has always been a great inspiration and mentor for Alon. He knows him from his childhood as he was friends with Mike and started working with Edward in the early 2000s buying diamonds from him. During this live session Edward will educate all of us on the current state of the diamond industry. It promises to be a very interesting episode.
