Dans ce douzième épisode d’Abratalks, nous recevons Simon Suleymani, militant pour les droits de l’homme, journaliste et cinéaste, pour une conversation éclairante sur l’exil, la résistance et la paix au Moyen-Orient. Simon a très tôt choisi de devenir une voix de son peuple. En 2017, après le coup d’État manqué de 2016 et l’instauration de l’état d’urgence en Turquie, son travail d’enquête sur les injustices subies par les Kurdes lui vaut d’être arrêté et condamné pour « propagande terroriste ». Contraint de fuir son pays, il trouve refuge en France où il poursuit aujourd’hui son engagement pour les droits des Kurdes et la préservation de leur culture, notamment à travers le cinéma. Dans ce huitième épisode d’Abratalks, nous recevons Othman El Kachtoul, diplomate, islamologue et enseignant. Né à Tanger dans une famille traditionnelle aux lointaines origines espagnoles, Othman étudie l'ingénierie en France puis commence sa carrière chez Décathlon. Il rejoint ensuite le Quai d’Orsay, rattrapé par son goût de l'autre et du dialogue interculturel. Après plusieurs années en poste au Moyen-Orient, une agrégation d'arabe réussie et une thèse de doctorat consacrée à l'Etat islamique, il rejoint le monde universitaire où il enseigne depuis l'islamologie. Un échange passionnant sur le rôle du diplomate, l'étude critique du fait religieux et les convergences, plus fréquentes qu'on ne le croit, entre les textes sacrés fondateurs des trois monothéismes. Mais également sur notre rapport à l'identité, à la coexistence et à la transmission des savoirs, à l'heure où la montée des radicalismes et l'importation des conflits au Moyen-Orient en France mettent à mal notre cohésion nationale.
