| AP 724: Confessions of Former MLM Girls: Shame, Sales, and Sisterhood || More Personal Preview | 25 Sep 2025 | 00:40:00 | |
In a conversation that originally aired on my private podcast feed, I spoke with my podcast manager, Taylor, about our personal experiences with multi-level marketing (MLM) companies. We delved into the icky factor of being approached by acquaintances with business propositions and the wider implications of these ventures. While these experiences did provide some social benefits and occasional income, they also left a cringey aftertaste.
Despite the mixed feelings, I don't regret my forays into MLMs. They taught me a lot about sales, personal value, and authenticity. I've grown since then, understanding the importance of being true to myself and my audience. If you're curious to learn more about this subject make sure to check out my most recent deep dive!

This episode originally aired on my listener-supported, premium podcast, More Personal. If you want access to more deep dives, including part two of this episode, honest reviews, casual convos, book reports, and other bonus content, make sure to become a supporter.
As a woman navigating modern life, I find myself torn between two worlds. On one hand, I embrace traditional values: marriage, motherhood, and homemaking. Yet, I also recognize the importance of feminism and the pursuit of equality. Ultimately, I believe in a woman's right to decide, and navigate, her own path.
The "tradwife movement," while appealing to some, raises concerns about potential limitations and societal pressures. Ultimately, the goal should be to create a society where women are empowered and valued for their contributions, regardless of their chosen path.

| AP 628: I thought I lost weight, but didn’t–what I learned from this weird experience || Growth Spurt | 19 Sep 2024 | 00:11:58 | |
This story is a bit vulnerable, but the lesson I learned felt important enough to share. If you've been a listener for a little while you're likely familiar with all of the work I've done over the years to detach my identity from my physical appearance, so that's what makes what I'm sharing that much weirder.
My experience was a total eye-opener that confidence is a mindset, NOT a number. I realized that how I feel about myself has way more to do with my attitude than my weight. And let me tell you, it's been a game-changer. I hope this serves as a refreshing reminder to you, because I know I needed it, too.

In today's conversation with Julie Rose, we delved into her journey as a radio journalist and podcast host, discussing how she tackles challenging topics and leans into uncomfortable conversations. Julie shared valuable strategies on how to approach discussions around contentious issues with curiosity and empathy, rather than resorting to debates or trying to persuade.
We explored the importance of setting intentions, maintaining emotional awareness, and focusing on understanding the person rather than winning an argument. Julie also provided practical tips for initiating and navigating these conversations in a way that builds deeper relationships and mutual understanding. This episode is packed with actionable advice for anyone looking to improve their communication skills, especially in difficult or sensitive conversations.

| AP 722: Facing a Career Crossroads: How to Control What You Can in the Face of Uncertainty || Coaching Call with Sheila | 15 Sep 2025 | 00:37:26 | |
In a recent coaching call with Sheila we explored the challenges she faces at a career crossroads. After overcoming cancer, Sheila is determined to return to work part-time, yet faces employer resistance to her accommodations. Together, we addressed her fears of ageism and the struggle to find fulfilling, part-time work.
Sheila's journey illustrates the power of letting fears inform wise actions without controlling us. By preparing for age bias and embracing her teaching passion, she's opening herself to new opportunities. In moments of reflection, I encouraged Sheila to ask: "Am I doing what I can? Can I be proud of myself?" This approach helps transform fear into possibility, and can inspire you, too, to confidently navigate personal crossroads and assert your worth.

| AP 626: Is your lack of self-care creeping up on you? || Growth spurt | 12 Sep 2024 | 00:11:45 | |
This is my second year of having my garden, and I've been struggling with this morning glory infestation that I thought I had under control at the end of last year. It's like no matter what I do, it just keeps coming back. It's a constant battle, and it's got me thinking about how similar it is to our struggle with self-care.
Sometimes, we neglect our own needs, thinking we can push through. But just like the morning glory, those neglected needs can eventually overwhelm us. It's a reminder that self-care isn't a luxury, it's a necessity. Even small steps, like taking a few minutes for yourself each day, can make a big difference.

This monthly series features an episode sharing my recent highs and lows, how my habits are going, a Do Something List update, plus what I'm loving lately and my commitments for the upcoming month. I hope this glimpse into my life, my family, my work, and my own self development encourages you in your own journey.
Around here the goal is never perfection, just to keep trying, even if in very simple ways. I think you'll see that with all of the big changes going on for me, taking the smallest of steps has helped to keep me afloat and feeling like myself. As always, I encourage you to get messy, too!
