RUSHcast; What are the proposed changes to driving licences? | AHDT S2#2217 Sep 202100:07:59

In this episode, we explore what the prosed HGV Driving Licence changes look like. It’s important to note that the changes below are only proposed changes currently and a consultation took place on these proposed changes between 10 August until 7 September 2021. The results from the consultation are due within the next three months of 2021.

There are three proposed main changes, and these are summarised below.

Change 1: removing the current staging requirements for licence acquisition Basically, a car driver will be able to apply for a provisional for both C and CE entitlement at the same time. A driver can then choose which test to take first. If they decide to go straight to take a test in an articulated lorry and then pass, they would be granted the following entitlements – C+E, C, C1 and C1+E.

Change 2: considering alternative arrangements for the conduct of the reversing manoeuvres. This proposed change allows the reversing part of the test to be conducted and assessed by a third party, this will free up time for the examiners to be able to add more tests to their daily schedule. The third party will also conduct the trailer coupling and un-coupling assessment.

Change 3: allow car drivers to tow a trailer without the need for an additional test This will allow drivers who passed their car test after January 1997 to be able to tow a trailer up to 3500kg although, MAM for car and trailer must not exceed 7000kg, Those who passed their test prior to January 1997 already have this entitlement on their licences. (B+E)

6 most common limiting beliefs according to ChatGPT S4#415 Mar 202400:15:58

6 most common limiting beliefs according to ChatGPT.  I asked AI what the most common limiting beliefs are and this is what came back!

Self-limiting beliefs are thoughts or attitudes that hold individuals back and prevent them from reaching their full potential. Here are six common self-limiting beliefs:

  1. I'm not good enough: Many people struggle with feelings of inadequacy and believe they are not capable or worthy of success. This belief can hinder personal and professional growth.

  2. I'm afraid of failure: Fear of failure can paralyse individuals, preventing them from taking risks or pursuing their goals. This mindset often leads to missed opportunities and a lack of personal development.

  3. I don't deserve success: Some individuals harbor the belief that they don't deserve success or happiness. This self-limiting belief can sabotage efforts to achieve goals and lead to self-sabotaging behaviors.

  4. I'm too old (or too young): Age-related beliefs can limit opportunities. Feeling too old can lead to a sense of missed chances, while feeling too young can undermine confidence and discourage taking on responsibilities.

  5. I can't change: The belief that personal traits or behaviors are fixed and unchangeable can hinder personal development. Embracing a growth mindset is essential for overcoming challenges and evolving as an individual.

  6. Others' opinions define me: Relying too much on external validation and letting others' opinions dictate one's self-worth can be a major self-limiting belief. It's important to cultivate self-awareness and confidence independent of external judgments.

Overcoming these self-limiting beliefs often involves self-reflection, challenging negative thoughts, and cultivating a positive mindset. Seeking support from friends, mentors, or professionals can also be beneficial in breaking free from these limiting beliefs.

In this episode, I explore these 6 key areas, to see how they or other beliefs maybe impacting you.

If you are feeling demotivated, confused or lack clarity in your life, if you are thinking about how coaching or mentoring could help you fulfil your potential, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me, Peter Rushmer, via Linked In or the Flagship Partners contact info below.

The future of vehicle finance with Andy Page | AHDT S2#521 May 202100:34:37

In this episode I catch up with my old colleague and friend Andy Page; he has worked in finance man and boy, which is a pretty long time I think! ;-)

It was great fun working with Andy, we poke a bit of fun at each other whilst Andy shared some awesome insights on asset finance too.

This one really isn't to be missed so listen in today!

Andy's Linked In bio states;

'Broad career in the development of both regulated and unregulated automotive and asset financing and related services delivered through traditional and online distribution channels. Experience in developing and managing business flows in new markets, the development and delivery of new product offers, growth of both own and dealer partner referred business and delivery of additional compliant services and training for delivery associates. A flair for designing and delivering bespoke funding solutions across a wide range of asset types and customers from Multinational board level to sole proprietor. An interest and involvement in Fintech currently fostering concepts in new funding methods. I have the ambition to use my experience to be an innovation leader in the asset finance industry, to meet customers’ changing needs, enhance competitive advantage and grow their business. I will achieve this by developing solutions that deliver an exceptional customer experience, respond to changing business models and meet the demands of today’s changing environment. Financing is undergoing a revolution with customers wanting 24/7 access to services, their own data and the integration of telematics to drive usage-based pricing. Open source banking will also simplify and greatly expedite the delivery of the credit decision process. I have fostered offers in some of these areas to enable forward-thinking businesses to adapt to these opportunities. I am also available to support lenders transition to fully directly connect with their customers online and take advantage of Open source participation to see what benefits and cost savings that can bring to funders and their customers.'

Andy is a great guy and I am sure you will enjoy this episode too.  See you all next time, thanks for coming.

Becoming your Motorway Buddy with Chris Holloway | AHDT S2#414 May 202100:42:30

In this episode we are joined by self confessed Driver with an idea Chris Holloway.  And some idea that was when he came up with Motorway Buddy.  Designed by a Driver FOR Drivers.

In 2011 Chris Holloway, a tanker driver from Manchester, UK was frantically searching for somewhere safe and secure to park. Turning down a wrong street could lead to catastrophic consequences, and parking in a lay-by with 20 tonnes of cryogenic liquid to keep him company overnight made him feel a little weak at the knees!

The Motorway Buddy driver friendly compliance management suite enables real time visibility of your drivers daily walk around checks, accident reporting, safe loading practice, UK border force checks, safe parking checklist and a crime reporting tool that assist in building the only freight crime hotspot map of the UK.
