The film stars Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Jerry O'Connell and Kiefer Sutherland.  Mae and Sam talk about how the film inspired Feel Good, the incredible performances from the young leads and how the famous pie eating scene hasn't aged well.

In episode 26 Sam is joined by screenwriter Tess Morris (Man Up, Hulu's Casual). Tess also hosts romantic comedy podcast You Had Us At Hello with fellow screenwriting expert Billy Mernit.

Tess has chosen Richard Linklater's 2004 romantic drama Before Sunset (80 minutes) starring Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke. Nominated for an Academy Award for 'Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay', this is the second film in the iconic 'Before Trilogy' and the only title in the series eligible for our film festival.  Tess and Sam talk about the films incredible dialogue scenes, on screen bathroom breaks and Celine's iconic cat, Ché.

Liam has chosen Shane Meadows's 2004 revenge drama Dead Man's Shoes (86 minutes) starring Paddy Considine, Gary Stretch and Toby Kebbell. 

Liam and Sam talk about Shane Meadows's use of violence on screen, Toby Kebbell's impressive big screen debut and the film's experimental origins.  We unfortunately experienced some technical issues whilst recording this episode, you may notice a drop in audio quality towards the end of the show.

In episode 23 Sam is joined by Alison S.M. Kobayashi, Director of Special Projects at Union Docs in Brooklyn, as well as creator and star of hit New York theatre production Say Something Bunny!

Alison has chosen Will Martin and André Valentim Almeida’s New York Is A Big Apple, an experimental essay film created from found images and appropriated audio. The piece explores the complex and contradictory role of the ‘author’ in the construction of society and its artifacts. The film was produced by Union Docs in 2010 as part of a season of collaborative projects. 

Alison and Sam talk about the origin of Say Something Bunny!, the rich experience of watching short work on a big screen, and the mystery of some of the footage used in New York Is A Big Apple.

Sam incorrectly says Brief Encounter is the (current) oldest film in the festival. Disney's Dumbo (1941) actually holds that title - as discussed in episode 14.

Tom has chosen Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (90 mins) from 1989. Directed by Stephen Herek, the movie stars Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter, and George Carlin.

Sam and Tom discuss adapting the iconic My Neighbour Totoro for the stage, Bill & Ted's vague logic around time travel, and the enduring friendship of the two main characters.

Elizabeth and Jeremy have selected Rob Reiner's 1984 feature debut, This Is Spinal Tap (82 minutes) starring Christopher Guest, Harry Shearer, Michael McKean and Rob Reiner.

They talk to Sam and about how Rob Reiner's 'mockumentary' has shaped the music film scene and their own Spinal Tap moments with Summer Camp.

Tricia has chosen Under The Skin (79 mins) from 1997. The first and only feature directed by Carine Adler, the film stars Samantha Morton, Claire Rushbrook, and Rita Tushingham. 

Sam and Tricia discuss how Tricia became a film festival programmer, Samantha Morton's star-making turn as Iris, and the ground-breaking British cinema scene of the late 90s.
