#277: The big interHuw
Saison 9 · Épisode 1
dimanche 24 mai 2026 • Durée 33:06
As players, coaches and fans take a well-earned breather, we sat down for a lengthy chat with County chairman Huw Jenkins to look back at a rollercoaster season and to ask how the club might steer itself into calmer waters. Mr Jenkins gave an open and honest assessment of what went wrong last year, but also in explaining what lessons have been learned from it, and why fans should keep the faith. We also touch on whether any future investment might be forthcoming, club communications, and the relationship with the Dragons and Newport Council.
We'd like to put on record our thanks to Mr Jenkins for speaking with us. Not every chairman would open themself up to scrutiny from an unofficial club podcast, and we hope listeners find the conversation of interest.
We'll be back with more summer content over the coming weeks, likely dropping a new episode every fortnight (roughly). In the meantime, check out our website for all the pod info you need, and drop us a line on the socials if you have anything to tell us. As usual, our theme tune is the original 1973 recording of Come On The County - and we are brought to you in association with our friends at the Riverside Sports Bar.
Until next time, look after yourselves and each other, and above all Keep It County.

#276: Season review
Saison 8 · Épisode 48
dimanche 17 mai 2026 • Durée 39:47
Now the dust has settled on the 2025/26 campaign, Rhys sat down over Zoom with Ian and Alfie to unpack and review what can at best be described as a topsy-turvy season for Newport County AFC.
We'll likely do our usual thing of releasing episodes about every fortnight over the summer break - but within that scaled-back schedule we hope to bring you a few special interviews, some hot takes on new signings, and maybe a few bits of bonus irreverence as we all lose our minds without any football to watch.

#267: Would County ever join the Cymru Leagues?
Saison 8 · Épisode 39
lundi 16 mars 2026 • Durée 21:46
The pod crew are having a week off, so this is a bonus episode for you in which Ed, Rhys and Ian conduct a thought experiment. Would County ever join the Cymru Leagues? How good would the offer have to be? And what would it mean for the club and its support?
We'll be back next weekend with a full show, reviewing the games against Barnet, Bromley and Walsall. In the meantime, check our website for all the pod info you need, or drop us a line on the socials if you have anything to tell us. Thanks as ever to the Riverside Sports Bar for their support of the pod. Our theme tune is the original 1973 recording of Run Lads, Shoot Lads.
Until next time, look after yourselves and each other, and above all Keep It County.

#177: April fools
Saison 6 · Épisode 49
mardi 2 avril 2024 • Durée 59:34
Our first big panel discussion for a while - sadly sans Rhys, but Jack does an excellent job of corralling Ian, Ed & Jamie to make sense of recent events. It's a long one, this episode, so here's what to expect and when in the episode (rough timings, depends on adverts length!):
- 1m10s: Intros
- 3m18s: Jamie's match diary and Colchester analysis
- 20m43s: Crawley analysis
- 28m10s: "Beat the pod" quiz
- 31m43s: Is the playoff dream over?
- 35m32s: A word about the Morecambe game...
- 47m46s: Your questions answered
- 55m32s: Player of the pod, shoutouts and beefs.
Ian will hopefully be back next weekend with a diary from the Grimsby game. In the meantime, you can contact us via Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn, and you can support us at our ko-fi page should you wish. Thanks as always to Tinty & The Bucket Hats for letting us use Discoland as our theme, thanks to Phil from Northampton for submitting the quiz, and thanks to all of you for listening - especially those who sent in questions for us to answer.

#176: Blown away at Barrow
Saison 6 · Épisode 48
dimanche 24 mars 2024 • Durée 23:24
It's another Ian Street match diary, but sadly without quite the same level of joie de vivre as last weekend. The "fifth Beatle" of the pod, Ollie, also makes an appearance - but neither of them find much to warm the soul from a frustrating and cold afternoon in Barrow.
The podcast, like the NHS, remains proudly free at the point of need. However, if you are able to chip in to support what we do then you can visit our ko-fi page; anyone setting up a regular £2pm donation will get a little thank you present in the post. And if you can't spare any money, that's fine - but please do recommend us to a friend and leave us a nice review somewhere.
We've not had a full panel discussion for a while, and the plan is to do that next weekend to review the two Easter games and also pick up on other recent under-discussed moments - not least that 5-3 win against Morecambe! If you have any questions you'd like us to consider, get in touch via Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn.
Thanks as always to Tinty & The Bucket Hats for letting us use Discoland as our theme, and thanks to all of you for listening.

#175: A grand day out (Wimbledon away)
Saison 6 · Épisode 47
lundi 18 mars 2024 • Durée 45:58
Well, get ready for an Ian Street matchday diary extraordinaire, ably supported by Ed & Jamie, as well as an assortment of guest appearances, including Stu, Fraser, Ollie, the Dragons Lair podcast & more! Wimbledon still doesn't know what hit it.
Anyone setting up a £2pm donation via our ko-fi account before the month is out will receive a mystery gift through the post - do support us if you can. And if you can't, please at least leave a nice review via your podcatcher or give us a plug on social media.
We'll be back next weekend with Ian's trip to Barrow, before Jamie decants himself in Colchester. In the meantime, get in touch via Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn if you want to. Thanks as always to Tinty & The Bucket Hats for letting us use Discoland as our theme, and thanks to all of you for listening.

#174: Madden-ing
Saison 6 · Épisode 46
dimanche 10 mars 2024 • Durée 32:17
So near, but yet so far... Analysing that painful late, late defeat at Edgeley Park, Ed & Jamie are joined by pod debutant Alfie and regular contributor Ollie to question the officiating whilst still paying tribute to a battling performance that so nearly paid off. Ahead of Tuesday night's Fourth Division game against Morecambe, we also thank Dave Salmon for his voicenote telling us everything we need to know about our visitors.
Right at the start, Ed teased you by saying that anyone setting up a £2pm donation via our ko-fi account before the month is out will receive a mystery gift through the post - do support us if you can. And if you can't, please at least leave a nice review via your podcatcher or give us a plug on social media.
We'll be back next weekend with an episode covering the Morecambe game and also the Big Lads Day Out to AFC Wimbledon - it should be a fun one, come and say hullo if you see us. In the meantime, get in touch via Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn if you want to. Thanks as always to Tinty & The Bucket Hats for letting us use Discoland as our theme, and thanks to all of you for listening.

#173: Staggered!
Saison 6 · Épisode 45
samedi 2 mars 2024 • Durée 12:32
The 1912 Exiles threw this one open to you - our wonderful listeners - to make sense of today's defeat to Mansfield. Some agreed with our view that today just needs to be dismissed as an off day against a quality side - others argued that this showed a lack of ambition, and wholesale changes are required. There were some strong words for the ref, differing opinions about the quality of our opponents, and a lot of looking ahead to what the summer might hold. Whether you agree with us and we agree with you, thank you to everyone who took the time to send stuff in. And if you missed your opportunity today then you can contact us through Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, and you can contribute a voicenote via our Speakpipe page.
Thanks as always to Tinty & The Bucket Hats for letting us use Discoland as our theme, and thanks to all of you for listening. If you like what we do, you can donate the price of a Bovril towards our running costs through our ko-fi account. We'll be back next weekend - but until then, look after yourselves and each other, and Keep It County.

#172: Harrogate (A) a.k.a. Newport County 4
Saison 6 · Épisode 44
mercredi 28 février 2024 • Durée 23:11
Our man on the northern beat, Ian Street, makes a rare foray even further towards the arctic to bring you a matchday diary from Harrogate away. In the middle of a dizzying start to 2024, Newport County find themselves just two points off the playoffs, with huge games to come in the next few weeks.
But instead of feeling daunted by games against the league's top two, why not settle in with a heartwarming listen, as Ian does battle with the Harrogate PA system, shares his best Martin Tyler, "Agueroooooooo" impression, and a bit of potted history about the Bath Spa of the north.
Don't forget, we have two excellent episodes in our feed: our chat with Newport County media manager Louis Cartwright-Walls and South Wales Argus wordsmith Chris Kirwan on the media storm surrounding the Manchester United game last month; and our interview with Martin Calladine about his new book, No Questions Asked: how football joined the crypto con. Both well worth checking out if you haven't already.
Keep your eyes peeled for some more interviews in the coming weeks and months, as well as our regular panel chats and matchday diaires. In the meantime, you can follow us on Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn and send us your thoughts and questions. You can also contribute a voicenote via our Speakpipe page or donate the price of a Bovril towards our running costs through our ko-fi account.
Thanks as always to Tinty & The Bucket Hats for letting us use Discoland as our theme, and to all of you for listening.

#171: In the eye of the media storm
Saison 6 · Épisode 43
samedi 24 février 2024 • Durée 34:12
In a highly unusual move, we're dropping an episode on a Saturday and bringing you another belting interview. In this one, Jamie speaks with Chris Kirwan (of the South Wales Argus) and Louis Cartwright-Walls (Media Manager for Newport County AFC) about being at the centre of the media storm during our FA Cup tie with Manchester United. They discuss having to stay professional when all around them were getting carried away with the hype, the mixed feelings towards the journos turning up to Rodney Parade as one-off day-trippers, and their matchday routines.
Be sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn and send us your thoughts and questions. You can contribute a voicenote via our Speakpipe page or donate the price of a Bovril towards our running costs through our ko-fi account. Thanks as always to Tinty & The Bucket Hats for letting us use Discoland as our theme, and to all of you for listening.
