One of the best fighting games of the generation if not THE best. SoulCalibur 2 was a deceptively deep fighting game that was also a quiver in the arrow of gamers who were deeply invested in the "console wars" of the era. It gave the GameCube a much needed win, but it was much more than that and it's a great snapshot of the state of gaming in 2003.

Shadow of the Colossus is one of the most unique video games ever and one of the best for PS2. It's ONLY boss battles, that's it. Each boss is a colossal puzzle that the player must solve as the game unfolds a story that deals with just how far a person would go to save those they love. It's a beautiful experience.

Katamari Damacy is the vision of an artist and started it's life as a student project on another console. It ended up being a pleasant surprise for the PS2 and a whole new franchise for Namco. It has a strong vision and it completely nails it in execution. It's also one of our hosts' favorite PS2 game...can you guess which one??

Animal Crossing started off as an N64 game but ended up being one of the best selling Gamecube games. It's pleasantness and absolute freedom allowed players to slow down and take their time really enjoying themselves. It was a trip to a nicer, calmer, lower stakes world and it's still that to this day.
