You're about to watch or listen to me coaching Scott and Kate. Kate has an extraordinary track record of success behind her. She is known by and trusted by several world leaders. And she is in her head about how she can get them as coaching clients, so I snap her out of it. And I tell her 2 things: One, your need to have fear and doubt is a sign you are working with the caliber of people you need to work with. And two, it's a sign that you're in your head. Scott has a background in the corporate world and a track record of success. I have to snap him out of one thing in particular, referring to himself as a new coach, and I slow him down to the power of a single conversation which will change everything for him. I'll see both of them at the intensive that's coming up. And if you're interested, come and join us, too, because it's where we get to do the energetic work around creating clients that you can't always capture in the nuance of a recording or a piece of writing. I'll see you soon. Enjoy! P.S. For most of human history, it wasn’t called coaching. It was called leadership.
| S23EP03: Psychographics vs Demographics | 04 Apr 2024 | 00:28:23 | |
In this episode, I coach two clients on how to achieve their goals. Mary Grant is a successful fashion entrepreneur looking to transition into coaching. The other client, David Watson, is a successful consultant who wants to grow and make a bigger impact. The one thing we have in common is that we all want to find our ideal clients. I believe the key to do that is to understand their psychographics, not just demographics. So the conversation develops around this concept. Enjoy! P.S. For most of human history, it wasn’t called coaching. It was called leadership.
| S23EP02: The Power of Simplicity | 21 Mar 2024 | 00:18:32 | |
Today I'm coaching Dave and Michelle. Both of them are coming to the live, in person Intensive in Santa Fe, and they're already signed up for the virtual intensive, too. They didn't know each other, and I didn't know Dave. Michelle I've worked with in the past. She's been at previous intensives. And today, it turns out (we didn't know this) that the very tool that would support Michelle the most is also a powerful tool for Dave. It's a really powerful tool for long-term client creation called Research Project, and you'll hear 2 different ways it can be applied in this particular conversation. I had fun, and it was powerful in its simplicity. Within about 17 min we were complete. Enjoy! P.S. For most of human history, it wasn’t called coaching. It was called leadership.
| S23EP01: I Can Get You Any Client - With Sarah and Linley | 07 Mar 2024 | 00:32:44 | |
This time around, I did something different with the podcast. I brought 2 people to talk with: Linley who had worked with me in the past, and Sarah who's never worked with me. They don't know each other and the 3 of us never spent time together, but I thought this would be fun. One of the reasons I'm doing this is that both of them are signed up to come to the next Intensive in a few weeks. I love doing this kind of stuff. I love working with coaches on how to build their business. So naturally, we played around one simple question: how can I help you create your next client? Enjoy! P.S. | S22EP05: What are your metrics for success? | 25 Jan 2024 | 00:19:49
When we get in our car, we pay attention to the dials in front of us. Is the check engine light on? How's the tire pressure? Do I need gas? Or we don't pay attention... I got a speeding ticket the other day because I didn't keep my eyes on the speedometer. In this episode from our top 10, I am coaching an extraordinary woman called Nikki. She's a diversity consultant, a coach and a musician. And she is hitting a ceiling on the level of her success that she perceives as a tension between who she thinks she is and who she is becoming. | S22EP03: Be Remarkable | 11 Jan 2024 | 00:39:34
A client of mine runs a multi-million-dollar business. She’s respected by everyone in her field, yet she once said to me, “I could do this with my eyes closed. I want something more.” One challenge of being a high performer is that you can be surrounded by people whose only mission is to say “yes” to you, who want to make you feel good, or say what they think you need to hear. Oh this was fun! You see, in this top 10 episode, I start to chat to Ervine before we hit record and she makes a little joke about me mistaking her for a high-performer. I immediately ask if I can start recording because I want to illustrate something important. Marianne Williamson captured it in her poem: "Our deepest fear is not that we are weak. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us." Too often, I see leaders fighting for their limitations. And that's always when I jump in. Ervine is a fascinating woman with a background in high-level sales. She has had a successful career that was built one relationship at a time. When I ask her how many coaching clients she wants, she is a little surprised to realize that it is no more than 12 clients a year. In this episode you'll hear me break down 5 of the top ways to build a word-of-mouth business. Masterclasses, other people's communities, former networks, referrals and creating your own community. When you are remarkable, it literally means that people remark about you. They talk about you when you are not there. That is the platinum standard for any business. Listen in as I teach you how to make your business remarkable, too. Enjoy! PS. For most of human history, it wasn’t called coaching. It was called leadership. As a coach, one of the gifts you can give extraordinary high performers is to create the safety for them to really speak their truth. In return, to have the kind of coach who is willing to hide nothing and hold nothing back, is a very unique experience for extraordinarily high performers. The team at WBECS invited me to give a presentation about coaching high performers. And I drew out some powerful distinctions from an extraordinary high-performing woman. Here we are...Enjoy! Love. | S20EP10: The paradox of the high paying clients | 21 Sep 2023 | 00:05:55
Welcome to 1 Insight with Rich Litvin, a podcast for extraordinary top performers and their coaches. In this episode, Rich delves into the paradox of high-paying clients. He begins by reflecting on his own journey from coaching clients who paid $10 a month to working with high-paying clients who invest significantly more. Rich emphasizes that the concept of a high-paying client is relative. What might feel like a high-paying client today can evolve as you grow in your coaching practice. The key is recognizing that your pricing will change over time. He shares a personal story of starting his weight training journey, highlighting how even using just the bar can be challenging initially. Similarly, in coaching, everyone starts somewhere, and what seems high-paying now might become the norm later. Rich emphasizes the importance of doing inner work to overcome doubts, fears, and insecurities about pricing. He encourages coaches to practice stating their fees until it becomes natural. While high-paying clients aren't a necessity for everyone, Rich shares that they allow him to provide free content like articles. He mentions that coaches have the freedom to choose how they want to play the coaching game. The episode closes with a reminder that coaching is about leading and transforming people's thinking. If you're interested in learning more about Rich's community of extraordinary top performers, visit https://richlitvin.com/1-insight/. The paradox of high-paying clients is that they don't exist, yet they are everywhere. Your journey as a coach is to determine how you want to play this game, embrace pricing changes, and lead your clients to transformative insights.

Power of a Single Insight Rich's coaching centers on creating profound insights. A single insight can reshape your world. Coaching, for him, is about catalyzing these transformative moments. Defining "Sex vs. Cash Theory" The episode introduces "Sex vs. Cash Theory" by Hugh McLeod, distinguishing between "fun, sexy" work and the work that "pays the bills." Rich highlights the need to balance these aspects in coaching. Pragmatism is Vital Rich emphasizes pragmatism in a coach's career. While the "sexy" projects are thrilling, practical work ensures financial stability. This stability offers freedom and peace of mind. Sustainable Coaching Career Finding equilibrium between passion and practicality is key. For some, a day job or cash project serves as the foundation for coaching's exciting projects. This balance nurtures both creativity and financial security. Embrace Change and Innovation Rich encourages coaches to embrace evolution. Sexy projects may become cash projects over time and vice versa. Coaches should welcome change and seek fresh opportunities. Low Boredom Threshold Many coaches share a low boredom threshold. They constantly seek new challenges and create innovative ventures, keeping their work dynamic. Rich concludes by underlining the importance of financial stability alongside passion. Balancing "sex" and "cash" projects is the recipe for a fulfilling coaching career. Explore more insights and join a community of high achievers at https://richlitvin.com/1-insight/. | S20EP06: The power of coaching more than 1 person at a time | 24 Aug 2023 | 00:25:18
You know what I love the most about coaching around insight? It's that I have no idea walking into a session, just what is going to occur. In this conversation, Lauren wants my guidance on using intuition in coaching. And Anthony wants to let go of the unrelenting guilt—common to so many high performers—that he isn't yet where he wants to be. How on earth will I bring these two conversations together? There's only one answer to that question. It's to be totally present and in the moment. And to discover what happens along the way. It turns out that Anthony has his biggest insights listening to Lauren. And Lauren has her biggest insights listening to Anthony. And that is actually the magic of coaching more than one person at a time Love. Rich PS. For most of human history, it wasn’t called coaching. It was called leadership. | S20EP04: "Quiet Leadership" | 10 Aug 2023 | 00:25:00
Praveen coaches brilliant leaders in the tech world. But he feels like he is hiding. He feels like he's in a place of comfort as a coach. He feels that he's not really stepping up as a leader. I draw out a distinction that shifts everything for him, based on a 2,500 year old quote by Lao Tzu: "A leader is best when people barely know he exists, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves..."
